If you have a place for musicians to play on June 21, we would love to talk to you. Make Music New Jersey is all about free outdoor music, so we’re hoping you have a lawn, patio, park or parking lot where enthusiastic musicians can set up and play. You set the rules for hours, type of music and whether amplifiers are allowed. We recommend acoustic music performed between 5pm and 9pm.
If the space you have is your front yard, just let your neighbors know (Better yet, invite them over!). We recommend you stick with acoustic music only. You don’t need a permit and your home-owners insurance covers liability.
If it’s a public space that requires city or borough licensing or event insurance, we’ll do our best to facilitate that process, but you will have to obtain the actual permits and coverage.
In some locations that celebrate this day of music, local business improvement groups organize street fairs that incorporate live performances. We think this is a great idea.
